We thought this was the perfect setting for our extended family holiday. We had long lazy days by the pool, some nice days out to the bastide towns and alfresco dinners followed by games We rescued several frogs from the pool! There were plenty of distractions in the house for every age and we found the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. Fabulous weather for two birthday celebrations and we found it to be a very peaceful and idyllic setting. Amazing house! We all made amazing memories and had a great time.
La Maison Somail était encore plus belle que ce que à quoi nous nous attendions, avec un souci du détail, un beau jardin et une piscine. Cadre agréable et hôte très sympathique.
Time seems to have stood still for these 10 days. And yet it passed quickly. An idyllic setting, calm at all times, 2 charming and attentive hosts. We loved our stay at Colombat Cottage.

A more tranquil spot in France you will not find. The house has 360-degree views across stunning French countryside that rolls and undulates towards a backdrop of the Pyrenees. It feels like you're a million miles from the stresses and strains of modern life, another world and yet within 20 minutes drive you can be in a huge supermarket that will cater for all your needs. The house itself is incredibly comfortable, with all mod cons. It sleeps 14 people in great comfort, including in two well-appointed cottages in the grounds. And yet it retains its cosy feel. Some days we lazed by the pool and ate our meals on one of the terraces, other days – when it was cooler - we lit the fire and settled in. It's genuinely as comfy inside as it is outside, which is not always the case in French holiday lets. Our young children were in heaven. When not swimming or playing tennis, they roamed the five acres of immaculately kept grounds, building camps, rowing on the small lake. There's snooker croquet and table tennis too, if it's wet. And then of course there is the party room. Set well away from the grown-up bedrooms, the party room has a bar, DJ–quality speaker system and a proper disco – glitter ball, lights and all. Incredible fun. You really won't want to leave the château and grounds at all – it's a self-contained little hill-top world - but if you do have itchy feet then there are lots of walks nearby, or you can visit one of the many beautiful French towns nearby (Mirepoix market is a must). I cannot wait to return.

Nous sommes maintenant de retour chez nous et je tenais à vous adresser mes plus sincères remerciements pour votre accueil à la Maison de Saint-Jean. Votre maison est magnifique. Elle allie le charme d'un ancien corps de ferme au confort d'équipements modernes et stylés. Nous étions 6 mais la maison peut accueillir 8 personnes. Ce sont surtout les extérieurs que nous avons adorés. Même si le temps n'était pas très confortable cet été, nous avons apprécié le très grand jardin, la vue étendue et la piscine chauffée. Nous reviendrons certainement car la région vaut encore quelques détours et votre maison est le point de chute idéal pour la visiter. À bientôt.
Lovely holiday home. This was the first time we had stayed in this area of Perigord. The house was fantastic, very large for 4 people and had a really good swimming pool. The house is only 2 km from the river which is also lovely to swim in. There is also a lake nearby at Grolejac as well if you prefer that. The property is in a quiet but central location with numerous beautiful towns to visit nearby (e.g. Domme and Sarlat) and lots of activities to enjoy. We had a great 2 week holiday here!
Nous avons passé une agréable quinzaine ici à Bessan. La maison était confortable et paisible. Le temps a été magnifique pendant tout notre séjour, contrairement au Royaume-Uni ! Nous avons apprécié les villes voisines, notamment Agde. Nous nous souviendrons de ces vacances et ne voulons pas rentrer à la maison cet après-midi. Merci beaucoup.
La piscine est vraiment chauffée ! De nombreuses piscines du sud de la France « suggèrent » qu'elles le sont. Par contre, la piscine des Fumerates, qui est immense, est effectivement chauffée ! En fait, quand nous sommes arrivés, la température de la piscine était de 29°C (86°F) ! Après avoir défait nos bagages, nous avons nagé en début de soirée, puis profité d'une baignade tôt le matin... Vous voyez l'idée... Comme la photo le suggère, les vues ici sont incroyables. Nous avions l'appartement du rez-de-chaussée qui était parfait. Deux portes-fenêtres vous mènent à la piscine, il y a des auvents rétractables pour vous protéger tout en prenant votre petit-déjeuner. La chambre principale est très grande avec un lit king size et un lit queen size, idéal pour déballer ou s'asseoir, etc. Il y a une deuxième chambre et une salle de petit-déjeuner/télévision. La cuisine était impeccable avec vue sur la piscine. La climatisation fonctionnait bien (très important de mi-juin à fin août). Il y a aussi 2 salles de bains (très pratiques). Dans l’ensemble, fortement recommandé.
Nous avons nagé dans la piscine tous les jours (température à 29°c) en janvier ! Nous avons effectivement apprécié les 12 jours passés avec vous, la maison et les environs. Très revigorant pour nous deux, et très agréable de vous rencontrer tous les deux.
Si vous cherchez un bel endroit où séjourner en Provence, nous vous recommandons vivement ce domaine (La Bastide 1718) pendant 8 jours pour accueillir 35 personnes pour notre mariage. Nous avions prévu des activités tout au long de la semaine: de la randonnée, du yoga, visite du jardin des papillons sans oublier la visite d'une cave. Notre groupe a adoré ! Nous avons organisé la réception de bienvenue, la cérémonie de mariage, le déjeuner le dîner de mariage et le post brunch à divers endroits de la Bastide. C'était tellemnt magique que nous nous sommes cru dans un rêve. La propriété a encore quelques choses à revoir pour la planification d'événements et les longs séjours mais Thomas était accueillant et une fois sur place tout était parfait. Le vin est également délicieux. Nous adorons leur rosé à 10 Euros et en avons bu des caisses pendant notre séjour. Leurs vins blancs sont également très très bons. Leur vin est délicieux et difficile à trouver aux États-Unis ! Dans l'ensemble, je recommande vivement de séjourner ici. Cela vous videra l'esprit car vous êtes entouré par la nature, la faune et les vignobles qui s'étend à l'infini. Nous avons apprécié la randonnée juste à côté de la propriété tous les matins. Pour une escapade en ville, vous êtes à 45 minutes de la côte, à 40 minutes du vieux Hyères, qui est notre ville provençale préférée, et à 10 minutes d'un restaurant étoilé Michelin à La Celle. Nous recommandons chaudement. Leur huile d'olive est aussi délicieuse !
We could not have made a better decision than to come to Villa La Baronne to spend the end of the year. The house is magnificent, the location unbeatable both for the surroundings (the river, the forest, the small towns...) and the proximity to Toulouse. The house has the services you expect and much more. An excellent experience that I hope we can repeat again. Thanks to Isabelle and Philippe for offering Villa La Baronne guests a five-star stay. A beautiful fun filled 7 days in this amazing house. Thank you. Equipped for all 8 of us. Kids swam everyday, favourite game of the week. Dads throwing balls high/low/long and making the biggest splash. Parents enjoying evening games of scrabble over a few too many. Lots of towns and markets visited. We plan to back back to make even more memories. Thank you.

Our family of 4 spend a perfect week in the lovely and nicely renovated gîte. House is spacious and well equipped. The outdoor area did not leave much to ask for with shady terrace, grill, a big green garden with a nicely furnished pavilion and not least the large and clean pool. Jean and Martin were there when needed, very helpful and made you feel at home. The small village Lauzun great for evening walks. This gîte can be recommended.
Le château est tres beau l'entretient est fait regulierement on passe de bon moment et l'ambiance avec les personnes c'est vraiment formidable je suis tres contente de se château magnifique un grand merci aux proprietaire.
We all really enjoyed staying at your villa for our holiday and exploring the region. Many thanks for the great preparation and presentation of the villa which made our stay most welcoming. Prior to arriving, dealing with Pete was easy and this continued with both him and Kate throughout our stay. We’d been in Avignon for week before where it was very hot, this continued in Curzon but the house was lovely and cool throughout. We all had no trouble sleeping which meant we weren’t able to take advantage of the pool for the first morning as we all slept in. When we did get out there, it was wonderful. As a family of 4 we were able to relax and have fun round the pool all day every day if we wanted, including cooking lunch and dinner on the gas BBQ in the outside kitchen which we made full use of. Facilities in the house were great and we relaxed quickly, taking advantage of the welcome package of goodies. We explored the surrounding villages and towns which were in easy reach and a 10 minute drive for bread each morning or a full shop meant we could simply pop out and get something for dinner/breakfast. They really looked after us and each morning we woke to a clean pool and surroundings, including towels waiting for us. We felt truly spoilt during our stay and could have easily booked 3 weeks or more and I imagine Pete and Kate will be managing full summers for a while to come. Thank you Pete and Kate for a memorable stay!

Can't really add to what's said before, but totally agree the house is a perfect home from home and is a great base for a fantastic holiday.
La villa est une maison très confortable et spacieuse. Les meubles et les équipements sont d'excellente qualité. Chaque chambre a sa propre douche/salle de bain et toilettes ainsi que son propre espace salon/repos. Un bel avantage pour une grande famille, un groupe d'amis ou deux familles partageant le logement. L'espace extérieur est très agréable et privé. Il y a beaucoup d'espace où s'installer et se détendre. L'emplacement de la villa est idéal pour visiter les sites de la Côte d'Azur. Les transports en commun sont accessibles à pied depuis la villa, tout comme les commerces pour les besoins quotidiens. Les propriétaires sont sympathiques et serviables.
As our week draws to a close I wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you both for another fabulous week staying in your lovely house. As with last year, we have thoroughly enjoyed our time, both chilling around the pool and house as well as exploring the local area - so many treats to be found.
